Lightweight Heavy Duty

Ferex was founded in 2019, marking the large-scale introduction of the composite road surface in the Netherlands. Since then, we have been making great strides: both literally and figuratively. With our strong composite road panels we have now laid many thousands of kilometres of temporary roads and platforms, and our operations are continuing to expand.

Our history

Our story

Oprichting
2019

Establishment of Ferex

Ferex was founded in May 2019, thereby introducing composite road plates on a large scale in the Netherlands. What began with an initial stock of 500 plates quickly grew to thousands of heavy-duty road plates, enabling the company to meet the rapidly growing demand.

First records arrive

In August 2019, we received our first delivery of Heavy Duty road plates. We won’t have long to enjoy them, as they’re heading straight to the first project site. There, they will be put to the test to demonstrate that the composite road plates are a valuable asset for our clients.

Purchase of the first Ferex truck

In recent years, our stock of road plates has grown significantly. To ensure our quality standards, we believe it is important to have a physical presence at project sites. That is why, in February 2022, we will be purchasing our first Ferex lorry fitted with a fully electric loader crane. This will enable us to carry out some of the road plate transport ourselves.

Introduction to the Light Duty driving plate

In September 2022, we will be expanding our range. We have introduced the interlocking Light Duty system in the Netherlands as a lighter and smaller alternative to the Heavy Duty panels. The black panels weigh just 36 kg each and can therefore be laid by hand, making them ideal for events and temporary footpaths and cycle paths.

New office

Following years of growth, we have built new premises to facilitate further expansion. The new building features a large warehouse with space for the road plate washing tunnel we are currently developing. There is also ample room for storing our equipment, a canteen, a meeting room and a number of workstations.

Wastunnel

Our Clean Base wash tunnel will be ready for use in October 2023. Road plates are cleaned efficiently using recycled, collected rainwater. The settling tanks that have been installed filter the used water, ensuring it can be reused time and time again.

Launch of new exhibition stand

Now that our office, washing facility and vehicle fleet have undergone a major upgrade, our trade fair presence must keep pace. We attend several (international) trade fairs every year, and from January 2025 we will be able to present ourselves in an even more impressive manner.

We teamed up with an interior designer and created a beautiful, spacious stand in our Ferex house style.
It has turned out to be a lovely space where we can meet people and showcase our Ferex system to its best advantage.

Purchase of a third truck

This month, we are further expanding our fleet and purchasing our third Ferex lorry. As we outsource the majority of our transport operations, it is important for us to maintain a visible presence at project sites. We have therefore decided to carry out a proportion of our road plate transport operations ourselves. This third Ferex lorry will help us to do just that.

Launch of the revamped website

After almost seven years, we feel our website is due for a revamp. On 2 February 2026, we will be launching a revamped version of our website.
